At a special ceremony on Wednesday 24 January, around 140 people attended to celebrate the winners of this year’s Inspiring the Extraordinary awards.

There were 14 award categories this year to recognise the achievements of even more individuals and teams from Professional Services.

We received over 540 award nominations across all categories, and it is great to see so many achievements, hard work, and dedication across the University.

Following a shortlisting process, 36 colleagues and 12 teams went forward to the award ceremony at The Hub on the Mount Oswald site.

Steven Carter, who won the Outstanding Colleague (Professional Services) award, said:

I was truly inspired by all nominees at the Professional Services: Inspiring the Extraordinary staff awards ceremony. There are so many wonderful colleagues going above and beyond to deliver exceptional services across the estate. I am so proud of everyone involved

Our University Day Nursery picked up the award for Service Excellence Team of the Year and Kate Bell who is part of the team told us: ‘’It was great to attend an excellent event, seeing familiar faces and parents past and present. Obviously, the best part of the event was winning the award for 'Service Excellence Team of the Year'. It was wonderful for the nursery to win this award and to be recognised for the amazing service we provide. The team is thrilled as we are such a strong team and winning the award has been the icing on the cake after receiving an outstanding rating from Oftsed from our last inspection.’’

Simone Tarsitani from our Music Department was part of the awards judging panel and he said: ‘’Joining the judging panel has been a positive experience for me. It was really inspiring to read through the stories of Professional Services colleagues and the impact they make.

It was a pleasure to work within the panel and I was truly pleased to see the variety of skills and profiles of the nominees.’’

Well done everyone!

You can see a video from the event and find out more about all the award winners and nominees on the awards intranet page.
