Durham Global Week will take place from Saturday 24 February to Sunday 3 March 2024. This is a designated period in our University calendar, where we recognise, celebrate and learn from the international multi-lingual, multi-cultural diversity that defines us a leading, global University.
In celebration of our staff and students from over 120 countries, the theme for Global Week 2024 is Inclusivity.
Durham Global Week will showcase the University's diversity and global impact through a variety of staff and student-led events, cross-cultural exchanges and a varied programme of signature events from arts and culture to boundary-pushing research.
A range of activities will also be open to the public, including the traditional Lunar New Year celebrations for the ’Year of the Dragon’ at the Oriental Museum.
Get involved and share what global means to you
We are inviting proposals from across our University community, from both staff and students, to organise their own "Global Week" event, to add to the programme.
This could be a cultural showcase, thought-provoking discussion, performance or collaborative project reflecting Durham's worldwide connections. However big or small, your event can celebrate, recognise and inspire. Events can be aimed at all audiences, from staff and students to the general public.
You can propose an event quickly and easily by submitting brief details using our online form. Approved events will be promoted as part of the Global Week programme, raising the profile and awareness of projects and events taking place here at Durham.
Global Awards 2024
Global Week will culminate in the Global Awards ceremony on Friday 1 March, recognising the people, projects and partnerships pushing Durham's globalisation forward and honouring diversity champions.
Nominations are still open for awards across 11 categories, with lots of opportunities to recognise and celebrate the people and projects that make Durham a truly Global University. Make your nominations by Monday 22 January to ensure that both outstanding individuals and teams are recognised for their contributions.
