How you can get involved with Greenspace in 2023

to read

Fairtrade Fortnight

Fairtrade Fortnight falls between 27 February and 12 March 2023, with a purpose of encouraging all of us to make the switch to Fairtrade products where possible so that we can protect our planet and the foods we love most.

Greenspace is spending this year’s campaign highlighting this important message with a series of events, and there’s still time to make the most of the remaining events!

For those interested in finding out more about Fairtrade and the circular economy, Dr Matthew Anderson from the University of Portsmouth will be delivering a virtual ‘lunch and learn’ session. ‘Aligning Fairtrade and circular economy, could this be a new approach to sustainable business?’ will take place on 7 March from 12pm-1pm. Sign up here for the talk.

And don’t miss our Fairtrade Bake Off, which takes place on 8 March! Anyone can take part by creating a bake with Fairtrade ingredients, with the final event taking place in Vane Tempest in Durham SU from 4pm-6pm.

Help us stay Hedgehog Friendly

We have successfully gained the Gold Accreditation from the Hedgehog Preservation Society for the Academic Year 2022/23 – and would like to thank everyone involved!

Our Hedgehog Friendly group has been busy over the last year, taking part in litter picks, hedgehog house building, and installing road signs to keep the hedgehogs safe.

With the launch of our Biodiversity Strategy, we will be continuing the hard work to look after our local hedgehog population. You can get involved by joining Hedgehog Friendly Durham; check out their Facebook or Instagram for more information on how to join in.
