Supporting local charities this Christmas

to read

This year, the three charities were chosen by representatives from Durham Students’ Union (DSU):

  • DASH - an independent charity, providing supported and unsupported accommodation for people who are, or are about to become, homeless in County Durham.
  • RSACC - offering free confidential counselling and support to survivors who have experienced any form of sexual violence.
  • Durham City of Sanctuary - helping refugees and asylum seekers in the UK and County Durham find friends, housing, employment, legal help and education opportunities.

Our Library and Collections team and DSU, who each year display the Christmas Wish Tree in the Bill Bryson Library reception area, are inviting the University community to place a gift under the tree for one or more of the chosen charities.

Each charity has provided a wish list of items that would benefit their work, and every gift tag decorating the tree represents one of these much-needed items!
