New intranet helps colleagues in their roles

to read

At the beginning of November, we launched our new intranet to help University staff to more easily find the information you need in your role.

Already, almost 3,500 colleagues have used the site to access the latest news and updates.

And following a poll of visitors, the site has officially been named as DU Hub.

Thanks to over 200 colleagues who took part in the poll to name the intranet, which saw DU Hub receive 49% of the vote.

Updates from across Durham

If you haven’t logged on yet, the intranet offers you a new way to find the latest news and essential information from across the University.

Head to DU Hub where you’ll see details about a wide range of updates, including the latest featured video, the Security Sam campaign, support you can get with hybrid working, and a special event to help you de-stress in December.

DU Hub provides a home for all departmental intranet sites and gives you easy access to things like:

  • The new People Directory
  • Policy Zone
  • Oracle
  • HR and Organisation Development information
  • Rewards and Benefits Hub
  • Health and Wellbeing Hub
  • My Digital Durham
  • Latest news at the University
  • Pan-University campaigns
  • Events from across Durham.

DU Hub is updated every day to give you the news and information you need. We’ll also continue to explore new functions for its continued development, so keep an eye out for future progress.

Accessing DU Hub

You might find it useful to bookmark the DU Hub homepage or set it to launch automatically when you open your web browser.

On Microsoft Edge, click the three dots in the top right > Settings > Start, home and new tabs > Open these pages > Add a new page.

DU Hub is viewable on all devices but as the majority of staff access the intranet using desktops and laptops, it’s optimised for viewing this way. As such, make sure that you re-size the view on your preferred browser to get the best from the site.

You can also access the intranet through Teams through the DU Hub icon on the left-hand menu. Open DU Hub in your browser and have a look around.
