Competition: A celebration of photography

Durham inspires
to read

Since the early 19th century, the popularity of photography as a medium for people to express themselves has continued to increase.

A photograph can capture an experience, a place, an idea or a moment in time. As the saying goes:

A picture is worth a thousand words.

Friday 19 August was World Photography Day, an annual worldwide celebration of the art, craft, science and history of photography.

To mark the occasion, we’re inviting you to enter our photography competition, and go out and about to capture images of the impact of Durham University in our communities.

We’d like you to take pictures of:

  • Durham University people in the community
  • Durham University projects in the community, or
  • Durham University buildings in the community.

The competition will run between 1 September and midnight on 22 September and is open to all staff and students.

You can enter our competition by emailing your photograph to dialogue@durham.ac.uk. The three winners will receive a £25 Amazon voucher and get to see their photos shared across the University in the November edition of Dialogue magazine.

You can find the full terms and conditions for our competition here.
