The Apprenticeship Levy

to read

The Apprenticeship Levy is a government scheme to fund apprenticeship training, which is providing opportunities for new and existing staff to develop with professionally-delivered accredited courses.

The University is also able to transfer up to 25% of our unused Apprenticeship Levy funds to other businesses to help them fund apprenticeship training for their staff.

We've pledged to ransfer all permitted unused funds to other employers and charities in County Durham, and Human Resources and Organisation Development is working with a range of local organisations to use the funds to provide opportunities for local people that wouldn’t otherwise be available.

Examples include providing funding for an apprentice with a learning disability to complete a Digital Support Technician Level 3 qualification with Mybe Awards, and a commitment has been made to Hennessy Living Group Ltd who run four children’s care homes in County Durham to fund the training of 10 apprentices. This funding will enable all 10 apprentices to complete an NVQ Level 3 Diploma for Residential Child Care, the mandatory qualification training for the industry.

Further information on the Apprenticeship Levy can be found on our website
