A greener campus for 2022

to read

2021 was a year bursting with action and results for the Energy and Sustainability Team – as well as being awarded the ‘Most Improved’ in the People and Planet University League, we were successful in the renewal of our EcoCampus Platinum award. We also fully launched the ‘My Greenspace’ platform and app, and welcomed a new member of our Team, Naomi Green, as Sustainability Coordinator.

We’ve already avoided eight tonnes of carbon emissions through collective action.

Small acts add up to make a big difference

The MyGreenspace app allows individuals and teams to earn points for logging sustainable actions, and we’ve already avoided eight tonnes of carbon emissions through collective action.

The top four users each month can win a £20 voucher, and the top team each term will win a £200 charity donation. Find out more about the rewards on offer on our website.

Creating new habitats for local wildlife

We have many wildflower meadows across the estate and plan to enhance college wildlife by introducing even more plant life and trees.

The Hedgehog Friendly Campus team also work hard to make our estate safer for local hedgehogs.

They have introduced hedgehog trackers, hotels, and conduct litter picks, and last year we won the Big Hog-Friendly Litter Pick Challenge of 2021 with a whopping 105 bags of litter collected.
